Our Pedagogical Framework

EYFS Foundation

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is widely regarded as the gold standard of early childhood education in the UK, recognised globally for its well-defined developmental benchmarks.

At Raising Cubs, EYFS provides a strong foundation of structure, clarity, and measurable growth. Our curriculum is mapped across age groups and all Prime and Specific Areas of Learning, ensuring clear progression in skills and understanding. This enables educators to observe, document, and support each child’s journey — from early communication and social interaction to emerging literacy, numeracy, and creative expression while remaining responsive to individual pace.

Prime Areas (Foundation)

Communication & Language — listening, understanding, expression
Physical Development — fine & gross motor skills
Personal, Social & Emotional — independence, relationships, emotional awareness

Specific Areas (Academic & Creative Growth)

Literacy — phonics, early reading & writing
Mathematics — numbers, patterns, spatial awareness
Understanding the World — science, nature, early tech exposure
Expressive Arts & Design — music, movement, art, creative making

Reggio Emilia Inspiration

The Reggio Emilia philosophy views the child as competent, curious, and capable of constructing knowledge.

At Raising Cubs, this translates to:

Project-Based Learning: Topics emerge from children’s interests (e.g., a curiosity about shadows may evolve into a light-and-dark inquiry)
Environment as the Third Teacher: Classrooms are thoughtfully designed as dynamic spaces that inspire exploration and self-discovery
Collaboration: Children, teachers, and parents learn together — making learning social and dialogical
Documentation: Learning stories, photographs, and portfolios capture the process, making thinking visible
Multiple Languages of Expression: Children express ideas through art, music, movement, play, and storytelling

Reggio ensures learning is joyful, child-centred, and inquiry-driven.

NEP 2020 & NCF 2022 Alignment

The National Education Policy 2020 and NCF 2022 provide the Indian foundation for early childhood care and education (ECCE).

At Raising Cubs, alignment ensures:

Play-Based Pedagogy: Learning is experiential, exploratory, and integrated, not rote-based.
Multilingual Exposure: Respecting India’s multilingual environment, children are introduced to mother tongue, English, and exposure to other languages
Cultural Grounding: Festivals, folktales, traditional art forms, and local and global community linkages provide cultural rootedness.
Holistic Development: Equal emphasis on cognitive, socio-emotional, and ethical growth values are embedded in daily practice.

By integrating global frameworks with NEP principles, we create a learning environment that is both internationally informed and locally relevant.

Meet Our Founder

Aashna Reddy

Aashna Reddy

Founder & Educational Director

Raising Cubs began with a simple question: what if early education was designed with as much intention as the years that follow?

Founder Aashna Reddy’s journey — shaped by her work in law, mediation, and teaching critical thinking — revealed that independence, curiosity, and reasoning begin far earlier than we assume.

This led her to explore global pedagogies and learning environments, ultimately shaping Raising Cubs — a space where childhood is respected as a meaningful stage of life.
